Son gets 6 months' jail, 100 taka fine for assaulting mother

A mobile court in Saturia, Manikganj, has sentenced a young man to six months' imprisonment for assaulting his mother and vandalising the house while under influence of drugs. He was also fined 100 taka.
The convict, Md. Sohel Rana, is a grandson of the late Shamsher Ali of Jagannathpur village in Baliati Union of the upazila.
The sentence was handed down on Wednesday morning by Saturia Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Kazi Mohammad Anik Islam.
Executive Magistrate Anik said that on Tuesday night, Sohel went to his grandmother's house and created a disturbance while intoxicated. Following the incident, the victim—his mother—came to him (magistrate) on Wednesday morning and filed a complaint against her son.
The executive magistrate further said that police from Saturia Thana visited the scene, investigated, and confirmed the veracity of the complaint. He then conducted the mobile court and sentenced Sohel under the Narcotics Control Act.
