Soybean oil price rises by Tk 5 per liter

The government has increased the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 5 per liter. With the new price, soybean oil will now cost Tk 204 per liter.

Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan confirmed the new decision to Agamir Somoy on Wednesday.

Earlier on April 29, the price of soybean oil was increased by Tk 4 per liter to Tk 199. At that time, the price of a 5-liter bottle of soybean oil was set at Tk 975. At the same time, the government increased the price of loose soybean oil by Tk 4 per liter to Tk 180. The price of palm oil remained unchanged.

Before that, on October 14 last year, the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association decided to increase the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 6 per liter and loose soybean oil by Tk 8 per liter.

At the same time, the association of edible oil producers and refiners announced a Tk 13 per liter increase in the price of loose palm oil.

According to the prices at that time, bottled soybean oil was sold at Tk 195 per liter compared with the previous price of Tk 189. Loose soybean oil was sold at Tk 176 per liter compared with the previous price of Tk 169.
