Awami League has broken the backbone of the country’s economy in 17 years: Information Minister

Minister Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho

Information and Broadcasting Minister Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho has said that the Awami League has broken the backbone of the country’s economy over 17 years. He said, “Prime Minister Tarique Rahman took responsibility at a difficult time in history. We have to rise from there.”

He made the remarks at a street meeting held at New Market Square in Bhola around noon on Wednesday, September 2.

Regarding the Bhola Barishal Bridge, Partho said, “Every person in Bhola has been protesting for the Bhola Barishal Bridge for a long time. We have all worked for it. The government is also looking into it. At the same time, the government is also considering another route from Bhola to Dhaka via Hizla, Muladi and Shariatpur, which would take 40 minutes less.”

Speaking about the development of Bhola, he said, “Tk 12 billion has been allocated for a government medical college in Bhola, Tk 7 billion to prevent river erosion and Tk 5 billion for Bhola roads. The most work will be done in Bhola.”

For the first time since becoming the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Bangladesh Jatiya Party Chairman Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho visited his electoral constituency in Bhola on Wednesday.

Since morning, thousands of people from different professions and party activists had gathered at various areas including Bhola ferry terminal, New Market and Kalinath Roy Bazar despite the adverse weather and rain to welcome him.

Around noon, Partho left Barishal for Bhola by speedboat. At that time, people standing on both sides of the canal waved to greet him.

At around 1:15 pm, he arrived at Bhola ferry terminal. District Commissioner Dr. Shamim Rahman, District Council Administrator Golam Nabi Alamgir, Superintendent of Police Md. Shahidullah Kawsar and leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiya Party and BNP welcomed him with flowers.

Later, on his way from the ferry terminal to his residence in Ukilpara, thousands of people standing on both sides of the road greeted him with flowers.
