Students can visit Chittagong Zoo in exchange for plastic waste

Plastic waste is a silent enemy of the environment. The amount of this waste is increasing every day. It is not only damaging the environment but also causing humanitarian and natural disasters. To protect the environment from this harmful plastic waste, a different initiative has been taken.
From now on, students can enter Chittagong Zoo for free by depositing just 100 grams of plastic waste.
Chattogram District Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah inaugurated the program in front of Chittagong Zoo at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2.
During the program, students received a tree in exchange for depositing 100 grams of plastic waste. They were also given free entry to the zoo. However, students must be wearing their school uniforms and carry their identification cards.
The District Commissioner announced the initiative at a meeting of the District Environment and Forest Development Committee on Monday. Plastic left scattered in different places does not easily mix with the soil. The initiative was taken to involve students in environmental conservation.
A designated area has been set up in front of Chittagong Zoo for depositing plastic waste. Students are entering the zoo after depositing 100 grams of plastic there.
The zoo is home to around 75 species of animals and birds including a white tiger.
