4 police officers withdrawn over rape of female passenger on train

In connection with the rape of a female passenger on the intercity 'Kurigram Express' train traveling from Dhaka to Kurigram, four on-duty police officers from Santahar Railway Police Station in Bogura have been withdrawn.

The four police officers are: ATSI Khokon Islam (35), Police Constable Fazle Rabbi (34), Golam Mostafa (36), and Ashikul Rahman (30).

They were withdrawn on Wednesday morning and attached to the Pakshi District Police Line. Santahar Railway Police Station OC Dulal Uddin confirmed the matter.

According to the case's First Information Report (FIR), while the train was moving, two police officers who were on security duty allegedly took the victim to the food compartment under the pretext of a search. There, they were accused of misbehavior and extorting money. Later, the female passenger accused canteen boy Abu Bakkar Siddique of rape.

After the incident, the victim called the national emergency service 999, following which police identified the train's location. Police subsequently rescued the woman and detained the canteen boy. The victim herself filed a case at Santahar Railway Police Station in connection with the incident.

Santahar Railway Police Station OC Dulal Uddin said, "The involvement of the two accused police officers in the case is being investigated. However, since four police officers were on duty on the train on the day of the incident, they have been withdrawn to the police line."
