Students protesting over various HSC examination-related demands have once again called for the resignation of the education minister. They said their programs would continue until their demands are met.
They made the remarks at a press conference at the Science Lab intersection on Thursday afternoon. At the time, HSC candidate Rayan of Ideal College said the protest had been withdrawn for the day considering the rain and the public suffering.
At the press conference, the students said they were not protesting against the government but rather seeking the government’s cooperation. They alleged that despite being aware of the situation, the education minister was creating uncertainty over the future of an entire batch.
They also said that no one would be allowed to participate in future protests without an ID card. According to them, those who chanted slogans calling for the government’s downfall and tried to create disorder during the movement were all outsiders.
When asked about a Facebook page called ‘Broiler Chicken Party,’ which has drawn attention on social media, the protesters said they had no connection with the page. They said, “We did not come here to do politics. We have taken to the streets to realize our legitimate demands. Our movement will continue until our demands are fulfilled.”
The demands of the protesting students are: first, the passing mark must be determined by combining the marks of the MCQ and CQ examinations; second, students who could not take the examinations for various reasons must be given another opportunity to sit for them; and third, the education minister must resign.
