Due to risks caused by heavy rainfall and the submersion of the only access road, the famous tourist spot Sajek Valley in Rangamati had been closed to visitors. With the situation returning to normal, the tourist centre has been reopened to tourists after 8 days.
This information was conveyed in a notice signed by Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Nazma Ashrafi yesterday (Wednesday). Earlier, on July 7, the Rangamati district administration had declared Sajek Valley closed.

Expressing gratitude to the administration for allowing tourists to return to Sajek, Suporn Deb Barman, president of the Resort and Cottage Owners Association of Sajek, said: "The only road to and from Sajek no longer has water, and since there is no rain, there is no risk either. I hope Sajek will once again be bustling with tourists."
Notably, after the closure of Sajek Valley on July 7, around six hundred tourists were stranded there. Two days later, 150 of them were able to return, and three days after that, 421 more returned.
The public notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday stated that tourists visiting Rangamati during this time must exercise caution and follow the instructions issued from time to time by the district administration.
