At least 35 people have been killed in widespread US strikes on Iran's southern coast and various strategic locations across the country. Additionally, over three hundred have been injured.
The country's Health Ministry provided this information following the latest US attacks that lasted throughout Wednesday night.
A local correspondent for Al Jazeera reported that explosions were heard on Qeshm Island, the largest island near the Strait of Hormuz, and in Bandar Abbas. Similar explosions were also reported in Sirik, another major port city from which the Strait of Hormuz is visible.
Explosions were also heard in Chabahar, Konarak, and other locations in Sistan province in southeastern Iran, as well as in the city of Rask.
In the southwestern city of Ahvaz, a children's cancer hospital was damaged in a US missile strike. Panic spread due to the loud blasts and intense tremors, prompting patients and their relatives to flee the hospital.
Hossein Kermanpour, head of public relations at Iran's Health Ministry, confirmed the matter in a post on social media platform X.
He stated that the hospital had been evacuated and had suffered extensive damage.
Following the overnight strikes, the US military announced that the latest round of operations against Iran had concluded.
US Central Command (CENTCOM), responsible for the Middle East, said its forces had struck Iranian command centers, air defense bases, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities in order to reduce Tehran's ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement on X on Thursday morning, it further stated that they had used precision weapons to strike targets in multiple locations, including Bandar Abbas.
It also reported that US forces had conducted a 90-minute operation late Wednesday night, striking coastal defense and cruise missile bases on Greater Tunb Island.
In response to the deadly US strikes, Iran launched retaliatory attacks targeting US military installations across the Middle East.
As of the latest reports, Iranian attacks had been reported on US facilities in Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordan.
