Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the government intends to bring ousted Sheikh Hasina back to the country through the prisoner exchange agreement (extradition treaty).
He made these remarks at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon and mentioned that if an appeal is filed, the court will decide.
Salahuddin added that Hasina will be arrested and the court’s verdict will be implemented as soon as she returns to the country.
Regarding the recent HSC examinees protest, he noted that a certain group is attempting to “fish in muddy waters” by utilizing some students to embarrass the government.
Salahuddin said, “They have informed the education minister and the government about their demands. The Ministry of Education clarified its position that if any student fails to participate in the examination due to disastrous weather, they will be given the opportunity to take the examination again.”
He claimed that many of those participating in the protests are not actually examinees. However, he noted that their numbers are not very high and the government is not giving them much importance.
The Home Minister mentioned that the government aims to reverse the decline in education quality.
