2 journalists killed in Uttara bus crash

Two journalists died on Thursday morning while they were returning home after watching a World Cup football match in Uttara, Dhaka.
Uttara West Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) Khalid Monsur confirmed the matter.
The deceased have been identified as Rabiul Alam Raju, a staff reporter for the newspaper Praner Bangladesh, and Sakibul Hasan, a staff reporter for Sangbad Diganta. Sakibul was the finance secretary of the Uttara Press Club, while Rabiul served as its entertainment secretary.
Both journalists were candidates in the upcoming 2026-28 Uttara Press Club elections; Sakibul was running for the position of organizational secretary, and Rabiul was a candidate for social welfare secretary.
According to reports, the two were traveling home by motorcycle after watching the match. As they reached the Jasimuddin bus stand area in Sector 3, a bus struck their vehicle.
Locals rushed them to Kurmitola General Hospital in critical condition, where the duty doctor pronounced both men dead.
