NCP chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has said that the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India’s West Bengal is a warning for Bangladesh.
He made the remarks on Friday before the Jumma prayer at the Masdair City Graveyard Jame Mosque in Narayanganj.
He said, “This is a saffron flag. This saffron flag has already reached Bangladesh. If Muslims do not remain alert and do not have strong faith, then we will not be able to stop this flag.”
He further said that many religious scholars faced persecution over the past 15 years, while ordinary people also went through hardship. He added that Bangladesh could transform in a new way if everyone comes together to build a new order.
He said that if mosques are linked with schools, hospitals, and social welfare activities, underprivileged people would gain easier access to education, healthcare, and support. He urged mosque committees to step forward, especially to support orphans, poor women, and low-income families.
Meanwhile, chaos broke out as Nasiruddin Patwary left the mosque after Friday prayers with his supporters. At least five worshippers were injured when the glass at the mosque’s rear gate shattered during the rush.
Following the incident, blood stains were seen on the mosque floor and broken glass was scattered near the gate, creating panic among worshippers. Many could not complete their Sunnah prayers, while several expressed anger over the incident.
