The Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will recruit drivers for the ‘Women’s Bus Service (Pink Bus)’ launched to ensure safe and comfortable transportation for women. The organization has arranged ‘walk in interviews’ or direct interviews to recruit a number of female drivers on a temporary basis.

The preliminary selection test for driving will be held for three days from August 30 to September 1 at the BRTC Central Training Institute in Joydebpur, Gazipur. Candidates have been asked to be present there with the necessary documents between 9 am and 2 pm each day.

According to the notice, applicants for the female driver position must be between 21 and 35 years old. They must be at least 5 feet 4 inches tall. Candidates must be permanent citizens of Bangladesh and must have a national identity card, citizenship certificate or birth registration certificate.

Applicants must also have a valid driving license for operating heavy vehicles. Those who currently hold a driving license may also participate if they meet the conditions mentioned in the notice. No TA or DA will be provided for participating in the preliminary selection test.

BRTC said initially selected female drivers will be given an opportunity to receive heavy vehicle driving training for between seven days and two months. The corporation will bear the costs of accommodation and food for the drivers during the training. After completing the training and passing the ‘Road Performance Test’ candidates will be appointed as daily wage-based drivers in accordance with BRTC’s existing administrative and financial rules.

However, the notice states that there will be no opportunity to receive any financial benefits before the final appointment. In the future, these candidates will be given priority for permanent driver positions at BRTC subject to fulfilling the necessary conditions.

The notice said candidates interested in participating in the selection test must appear at the BRTC Central Training Institute at the scheduled time with the original copies of their national identity card or birth registration certificate, all educational certificates and driving license.
