I will remain nonpartisan while performing state duties: president

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on everyone to work together for the welfare of the country and its people. He said he would work in a completely nonpartisan manner while performing his state duties and for the welfare of the state.
The president made the remarks at the first Darbar held at Bangabhaban on Thursday. The Darbar was attended by officers and employees of Bangabhaban.
At the Darbar, the president urged Bangabhaban officials and employees to perform their duties with sincerity, impartiality and professionalism while maintaining deep love and respect for the country and loyalty to the state. He said everyone must work to earn public trust by performing their responsibilities with accountability and transparency.
The president said, “Before assuming the office of president, I resigned from all my party positions and membership. Now I am completely a nonpartisan person. I have taken an oath that I will have no anger, resentment or affection. After assuming the office of president, I have sworn that I will remain above politics in everything. I have only one main purpose and goal before me: my country, my state and my people.”
The president added that Bangabhaban is a symbol of the state and a symbol of sovereignty. The honor and dignity of the state are upheld from here. He said this dignity must be preserved in the interest of the state.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam said, “It is the responsibility of everyone working here to work toward consolidating the independence and sovereignty of the country and strengthening the democratic institutions of the country.” At the time, the president called on everyone to work together for the welfare of the country and its people.
President Mirza Fakhrul paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country while remembering the Great Liberation War of 1971. He also remembered the sacrifices made for the country and nation by the declaration of independence and heroic freedom fighter, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He also paid tribute to all former presidents who served at Bangabhaban and recalled their contributions.
The president said strict confidentiality must be maintained regarding the daily activities of Bangabhaban and all matters related to important state decisions so that national security is not compromised in any way.
He said that alongside performing important state responsibilities, it is also extremely important to maintain a healthy and balanced relationship between professional and family life and to give adequate time to family members and loved ones.
The president thanked and congratulated the officials and employees concerned for organizing his swearing in ceremony and other programs smoothly and with due dignity.
The president’s Military Secretary Major General A S M Bahauddin, Secretary of the Public Division A J M Salahuddin Nagari, Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam and all officials and employees of the President’s Office were present at the Darbar.
