Nasiruddin Patwary, the chief organizer of NCP, was attacked on Friday. The incident took place after Jummah prayers, as he exited the Pouro Collector Jame Mosque located opposite the Deputy Commissioner’s residence in Jhenaidah.
However, Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir has made a counter-allegation over the incident. He claimed that the NCP leader went to Jhenaidah with the intention of mobilizing a mob.
In a Facebook post on Friday evening, Nasir wrote that Nasiruddin Patwary is “the most controversial figure in post-uprising politics in Bangladesh, accused of inciting mob culture and conflict.” He added that Patwary went to Jhenaidah today with the intention of creating a mob, but “ordinary people threw eggs at him.”
Photos of two individuals carrying weapons at the scene later circulated on Facebook. Addressing this, the Chhatra Dal leader claimed that “armed individuals accompanying him attempted to open fire on civilians.” He further alleged that the armed individuals were ‘Shibir militants.’
He identified them as Siam Uddin Turjo (wearing a Punjabi), son of Saltu Master, a Jamaat leader and teacher at Badarganj Madrasa, and resident of Master Para, Court Para, Jhenaidah. The second individual, Ashik (wearing a T-shirt), son of the late Badsha from Kastashagra village, was also identified by him as a Shibir leader.
At the end of the post, he urged the local police administration to arrest the two armed individuals.
