The 700-kg widely discussed albino buffalo named ‘Donald Trump’ will be returned to Rabeya Agro Farm. The decision was taken following the intervention of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed. As of 7 pm on Wednesday, the buffalo had not reached Narayanganj.
Confirming the matter to a television channel, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the buffalo has been returned to the farm after refunding the buyer from Keraniganj to avoid any trouble. He added that the animal will be kept and reared at the farm for the time being.
Earlier on Monday, when Samir, a resident of Jinjira in Dhaka, went to take delivery of the buffalo from Keraniganj, Rabeya Agro Farm in Paikpara, Narayanganj arranged a red-carpet reception. The buffalo was bathed, dressed in ceremonial attire, and formally sent off with a red-carpet procession and colored smoke. Farm owner Ziauddin Mirdha became emotional during the event.
About 10 months ago, Ziauddin Mirdha brought the buffalo from the City Hat area of Rajshahi and raised it with care like his own child. The 700-kg buffalo had already been purchased by Samir at a rate of Tk 550 per kg.
The buffalo gained widespread attention after its appearance and hairstyle resembled that of former US President Donald Trump, leading the farm owner’s younger brother to jokingly name it ‘Donald Trump.’ The name later sparked extensive discussion on social media. Due to its unusual name and appearance, thousands of people visited the farm to see the animal, which also drew attention from both local and international media.
Farm owner Ziauddin Mirdha said it was painful to bid farewell to the buffalo, but he accepted it in the spirit of sacrifice associated with Eid-ul-Adha.
He further said that unlike previous years, this year’s Eid season had regained a festive atmosphere, with people coming not only to buy but also to see the animals.
