Tarique Meets Kazakhstan PM at Summer Davos

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan held a high-level meeting to strengthen bilateral ties on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Summer Davos.
PM’s Press Wing confirmed the matter. The meeting took place at 10:15 am local time on Wednesday in Dalian, China.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening the relationship between their nations and they agreed to establish permanent diplomatic missions in Dhaka and Astana.
To bolster political, business, and people-to-people connections, both leaders agreed that regular meetings should be held between the two countries.
Bektenov expressed a positive outlook on the potential for greater engagement in trade and investment.
The discussions covered a wide range of sectors, including the export of skilled labor from Bangladesh to Kazakhstan, as well as cooperation in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, technology, agribusiness, and food processing.
During the summit, Bektenov sought Bangladesh’s support for Kazakhstan’s proposal to establish a specialized agency under the United Nations focused on water diplomacy. Tarique confirmed that Bangladesh supports the initiative.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir, and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.
