The number of measles cases is rising across the country. In response, the Directorate General of Health Services has issued special instructions for all public and private healthcare facilities regarding the treatment of measles and suspected measles patients. The directive includes five-point instructions, including the designation of separate wards or cabins to ensure infection control and effective treatment.
In the instructions signed by Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Moinul Ahsan, the DGHS said all public healthcare facilities must establish separate wards or cabins for measles and suspected measles patients. It also instructed that infected patients must be admitted and provided with necessary treatment.
The directive states that adequate numbers of doctors and healthcare workers must be ensured in measles isolation wards. Specialist physicians must conduct rounds twice daily, in the morning and evening, including on holidays.
It further states that no more than one attendant or visitor will be allowed per patient. In addition, the directive instructs that information on admitted patients must be uploaded daily to the MIS server.
