Bangladesh is still not completely free from fascism, even though fascist forces have fled the country, said Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and leader of the opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad.
He made the remarks on Sunday in an Eid-ul-Azha greeting message to the nation.
In a statement sent to the media, the Jamaat Ameer said that the holy Eid-ul-Azha—deeply associated with the memories of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), his wife Hazrat Hajara, and his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS)—has arrived before the nation. He said Eid-ul-Azha inspires people with the great ideals of sacrifice and devotion, and awakens the spirit of offering everything to attain the pleasure of Almighty Allah. The lessons of sacrifice, he added, motivate society to eliminate social inequality and to establish an exploitation-free and justice-based social order.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman called for fully practicing Islam in personal, social, and state life through the establishment of justice and fairness.
Referring to the country’s political situation, he said that although fascist forces have fled Bangladesh, the country has not yet become fully free from fascism. According to him, these forces are staying abroad and in hiding inside the country, attempting to create disorder in various ways. He alleged that they are engaging in conspiracies to prevent Bangladesh from moving toward peace and stability.
Urging the people to remain united to resist such conspiracies, he said movements and struggles must continue until a humane Bangladesh is established.
In the statement, he further said that if people can be inspired by the great sacrifices of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), Hazrat Hajara, and Hazrat Ismail (AS) to sacrifice their lives, wealth, and most cherished possessions to establish the religion of Allah on Allah’s land, only then will their sacrifices be accepted and fulfilled by Allah, Insha’Allah.
He concluded by praying to Almighty Allah for the peace, prosperity, and safety of the people of Bangladesh.
