Nearly 100 Injured During Eid Sacrifice in Dhaka

On the first day of Eid-ul-Azha, around 100 people sustained injuries while slaughtering and handling sacrificial animals in the capital and surrounding areas and received treatment at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
From Thursday morning until now, 80 of the injured suffered blows from cows’ hooves and horns, while 20 others sustained cuts and injuries from knives and sharp tools due to accidents, the hospital said.
Most of the injured received first aid and left the hospital. Doctors kept some patients under observation and admitted them if necessary.
Hospital sources said the injured include people of various ages, many of whom were involved in slaughtering and processing sacrificial animals.
Md. Faruk, in-charge of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said nearly 100 injured people have so far arrived at the emergency department. He added that most received primary treatment and returned home, while others remain under observation in the hospital. He also warned that the number of patients may increase further.
