The Lebanese Army has described Israel's recent strikes in Lebanon as 'brutal attacks,' accusing them of obstructing efforts to restore stability in both the country and the wider region.
The allegation was made in a statement posted on social media platform X on Saturday.
According to the statement, Israel's continued attacks are intended to prevent any resolution that could help reestablish stability in Lebanon.
The Lebanese Army said the strikes carried out across various parts of the country on Saturday resulted in casualties and extensive property damage.
Among those killed was a member of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that at least five people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the southern Lebanese town of Arab Salim on Saturday morning.
According to Saudi news outlet Al Hadath, several towns in the Al-Nabatieh region and the Mount Al-Rihan area in the Jezzine district were also targeted. Another strike was reported in the Western Bekaa Valley in central Lebanon.
Separately, a senior Hezbollah official told Reuters that the group would not allow Israel unrestricted movement in what it described as occupied Lebanese territory.
However, an Israeli military official told Reuters that strikes were launched against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon after the group's members fired more than 50 projectiles at Israeli forces. The official claimed that stability between the two countries could be restored if Hezbollah ceased violating the ceasefire.
