Every World Cup brings a festival-like atmosphere across Bangladesh. Homes are adorned with team flags, murals appear in neighborhoods and large public screenings draw crowds of supporters.
While Brazil and Argentina have traditionally enjoyed the largest fan bases in the country, support for Portugal, Germany, Spain and France has grown significantly in recent years.
Although Bangladesh has yet to qualify for a FIFA World Cup, the passion and participation of its people have earned international attention.
FIFA's recognition serves as another acknowledgment of that reality, underscoring how the World Cup in Bangladesh is more than just a sporting event. For millions of fans, it is a celebration of emotion, culture and community that comes alive every four years.
