DSE, CSE End Higher as Trading Picks Up

The main stock market of Bangladesh, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended trading on Wednesday, the fourth trading day of the week, with gains in both key indexes and turnover.
Most listed companies posted price increases during the session, while total trading volume also rose significantly.
The DSE Broad Index gained 11 points from the previous session to close at 5,616 points. The Shariah Index rose 0.81 points to 1,140 points, while the DSE-30 Index advanced 0.10 points to 2,127 points.
Of the 397 companies and mutual funds traded throughout the day, share prices rose for 182, fell for 150, and remained unchanged for 65. Trading activity also remained strong, with total turnover on the DSE reaching Tk 940.21 crore, up Tk 111.85 crore from Tk 828.36 crore in the previous trading session.
The country’s other stock market, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also posted a slight gain. The CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose 1 point to 15,119 points. A total of 218 companies’ shares and units were traded on the CSE, with prices rising for 106, falling for 79, and remaining unchanged for 33. Total turnover at the close of trading stood at Tk 58.80 crore.
Investors focused heavily on Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited during the session. The company topped the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 60.26 crore traded. Summit Alliance Port Limited ranked second with turnover of Tk 33.04 crore, while BRAC Bank PLC secured the third position with shares worth Tk 30.13 crore traded.
Other companies on the top turnover list included IT Consultants Limited, Bangladesh Thai Aluminium Limited, National Feed Mill Limited, KDS Accessories Limited, IPDC Finance PLC, Dominage Steel Building Systems Limited, and Square Pharmaceuticals PLC.
In the race for the highest price gain, Nahi Aluminium Composite Panel Limited led the market with a 9 percent increase in share price. The company traded 1,973,204 shares in 2,071 transactions, with a turnover value of Tk 6.93 crore. Sonargaon Textiles Limited ranked second after its share price rose 7.88 percent, generating a market value of Tk 6.91 crore. Sharp Industries Limited placed third with a 7.21 percent gain.
Other companies on the gainers’ list included KDS Accessories Limited, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh, Aramit Limited, Information Technology Consultants, Mercantile Insurance Company Limited, Bangladesh National Insurance Company Limited, and CAPM IBBL Islamic Mutual Fund.
Despite the positive market sentiment, Beximco Limited recorded the steepest decline of the day. Its share price fell 9.74 percent from the previous session, while shares worth Tk 61 lakh changed hands during the day. International Leasing and Financial Services Limited and Premier Leasing and Finance Limited ranked second and third among the decliners, with both companies’ share prices falling 7.69 percent.
Other companies that posted losses included Bay Leasing, Far East Islami Life Insurance, ICB Islamic Bank, and others.
