Bodies of mother and son found lying on bed

The bodies of a woman and her son were recovered from their home in Bagherpara, Jashore. The incident occurred around 9 pm Saturday in the South Para area of Khalsi village in the upazila.

The deceased were Zubayda Khatun (32), wife of Zafar Shikdar of the village, and her son Md. Jisan (6).

Local veterinarian Akhtar Hossain told journalists that after receiving the news around 9 pm, he went to Zakir’s house and found Jisan’s body lying on a bed, tied with a gamcha. The lifeless body of Jisan’s mother, Zubayda, with a scarf wrapped around her neck, was also lying on the same bed.

Locals said Bagherpara police went to the scene around 10 pm after receiving the news. Sub Inspector Palash of the police station told journalists, “Seeing the dead mother and son, it does not appear to be a suicide. The matter has been reported to senior officials.”

Around midnight, Bagherpara Police Station Officer in Charge Shah Jalal Alam said from the scene, “The incident is suspicious. The matter will become clear after the autopsy.”
