Big Sazzad’s maternal cousin arrested while trying to flee to Oman as Burmese citizen

Gholam Sarwar Khan, maternal cousin of fugitive Chattogram Shibir cadre Sazzad Ali Khan, also known as Big Sazzad, has been arrested. Police said Sarwar, a close associate of Big Sazzad, was trying to flee to Oman.
A team of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch arrested him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police Media Division Aminur Rashid confirmed the matter in a press release sent at 12:45 am.
According to the press release, Gholam Sarwar Khan had prepared forged documents identifying himself as a citizen of Myanmar. He also obtained a Danish travel document by showing Myanmar citizenship.
He arrived at the airport to travel to Oman. Suspicion arose after he provided misleading information.
Later, a DB team went to the departure area of the domestic terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and arrested him.
The press release said that the arrested Gholam Sarwar Khan had been active in various crimes, including extortion in Dhaka and Chattogram, as a follower of Big Sazzad. It also said preliminary information had been found regarding his involvement in multiple incidents in Chattogram.
