Two More Die From Dengue, 157 Hospitalized

Two more people have died from dengue in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Tuesday to 8 am Wednesday, while 157 new patients were admitted to hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease during the same period.
The information was released Wednesday in a dengue situation report issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the report, among the newly hospitalized patients, 56 were admitted in Barishal Division outside city corporation areas, 16 in Chattogram Division, 11 in Dhaka Division, 28 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 29 in Dhaka South City Corporation, three in Mymensingh Division, four in Rajshahi Division and 16 in Khulna Division.
During the same period, 119 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering. So far this year, a total of 4,919 dengue patients have been released from hospitals.
DGHS data show that 5,317 people have been infected with dengue nationwide this year. Of those infected, 62.1 percent are male and 37.9 percent are female.
The death toll from dengue this year has now risen to 12.
For comparison, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths in 2025. In 2024, the country reported 101,214 infections and 575 deaths from the disease.
