Police find missing gold businessman, family in Chattogram

Police found Chandpur gold businessman Pintu Das and his family in Patiya, Chattogram on Friday.
Chandpur Additional Superintendent of Police Md Lutfur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said Pintu had a business of giving money by mortgaging gold. He became involved in loans from various institutions through these activities. Unable to repay the loans due to a financial crisis, the merchant went into hiding with his family.
Earlier, Pintu’s shop had been closed since 19 August, and the mobile phones of Pintu, his wife Rimi, and their two sons were turned off starting the next day. They could not be found at their home either. As the news spread in the area, police launched an investigation.
After the primary investigation, Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Foyez Ahmed said, “The family has gone into hiding or fled. Many are spreading news of their disappearance on social media. However, no missing diary has been filed at the police station on behalf of the family.”
Acting on a tip-off, police located him and the process of bringing the family to Chandpur is underway.
Various discussions were circulating regarding the disappearance of Pintu and his family, especially after the murder of former schoolteacher Ganapati Chakraborty and his family in Rangpur.
