Five children drown in Chapainawabganj

Five children have died after going into the water to bathe in a dried-up river in the Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj district. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the Char Chakla village of Debīnagar union, under Sadar upazila.
The deceased children are: Sumaiya (10) and Abiba (8), daughters of Masud of Debīnagar union; Sharifa (12), daughter of Shariful; and Shumaiya (12) and Suraiya (9), daughters of Nezamuddin.
These details have been confirmed by Ekramul Haque, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station.
He said the five children died after getting into floodwater in the dried-up river to bathe this afternoon. He is heading to the scene and will provide further details later.
