According to annual statistics released by the Swiss National Bank (SNB) on Thursday, Bangladeshi deposits stood at 576.6 million Swiss francs in 2024. The figure rose significantly in 2025 to more than 838 million Swiss francs.
The highest amount on record was reported in 2021, when Bangladeshi deposits in Swiss banks reached 871.1 million Swiss francs.
Commenting on the development, Shahjalal Islami Bank Managing Director Mosleh Uddin Ahmed told Agamir Somoy, “Bangladesh has recently taken initiatives to recover funds allegedly laundered abroad. Anticipating such measures, many individuals may have transferred money to Swiss banks earlier. So far, Swiss banks have not returned anyone’s assets.”
