Century for Eggplant, Double Century for Tomatoes

Dhaka’s markets are hitting a “century” on eggplants at Tk 100 per kg and a “double century” on tomatoes, which now retail for up to Tk 240.
Since the rains began, a survey of various markets over the past few days revealed that Tengra fish is selling for Tk 600 to 800 per kg. In comparison, the price of local (Desi) chicken is Tk 620 to 650 per kg.
Among other items in the fish market, large Rui is selling for Tk 450-550 per kg, medium Rui for Tk 350-420, and small Rui for Tk 300-350, Katla for Tk 340-480, Tilapia for Tk 200-250, Shing for Tk 400-500, Pabda for Tk 300-450, Pangas for Tk 180-350, farmed Koi for Tk 200-280, Silver Carp for Tk 180-240, and Shrimp for Tk 800-1,200.
In the poultry market, broiler chicken is selling for Tk 170 to 190 per kg, Sonali for Tk 340-360, and Layer for Tk 320-340, Beef for Tk 750 to 850, and mutton for Tk 1,100-1,200.
In the vegetable market, tomatoes are selling for Tk 240 per kg, Carrots for Tk 140, Beans (Shim) for Tk 250, Bitter Gourd (Korola) for Tk 80, and Eggplant for Tk 100, Wax Gourd (Jali Kumra) at Tk 40 per piece, bottle gourd (Lau) is Tk 60, Green Bananas is Tk 50 four pieces, Arum (Chhora) is Tk 60 per kg, Pointed Gourd (Potol) is Tk 50, and Ridge Gourd (Jhinga) is 60-70.
Moreover, Spiny Gourd (Kakrol) is selling for Tk 70-80 per kg, Okra (Dherosh) and Snake Gourd (Chichinga) for Tk 50-60, Taro Arum Stalks (Kochur Loti) for Tk 70-90, Long Beans (Borboti) for Tk 60-80, and Cucumbers for Tk 60-90.
Green chilies, which were Tk 120 per kg a few days ago, are now selling for Tk 280. However, depending on quality, some green chilies are also available for Tk 80-160 per kg.
In the rice market, Miniket is selling for Tk 75 per kg, coarse rice for Tk 55-60, and Nazirshail for Tk 90. Meanwhile, the price of Chinigura rice has crossed Tk 200 per kg.
