Dhaka’s
markets are hitting a “century” on eggplants at Tk 100 per kg and a “double
century” on tomatoes, which now retail for up to Tk 240.
Since the
rains began, a survey of various markets over the past few days revealed that Tengra
fish is selling for Tk 600 to 800 per kg. In comparison, the price of local
(Desi) chicken is Tk 620 to 650 per kg.
Among other
items in the fish market, large Rui is selling for Tk 450-550 per kg, medium
Rui for Tk 350-420, and small Rui for Tk 300-350,...
