Seven More Children Die of Measles and Symptoms

Child deaths linked to measles and measles-like symptoms continue unabated. In the last 24 hours, from Wednesday 8:00am to Thursday 8:00am, another seven children died across Bangladesh. Among them, one child had tested positive for measles, while the remaining six showed symptoms of the disease.

On Thursday, the Directorate General of Health Services said another 1,363 children across the country developed measles-like symptoms during the same period. The child who tested positive for measles died in Dhaka. Among the six children who died with symptoms, four were from Dhaka, one from Chattogram, and one from Mymensingh.

Since March 15, a total of 369 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country. During the same period, 70 children died after testing positive for measles. Altogether, the death toll among children has reached 439.

Data from the Directorate General of Health Services show that 54,419 children have developed measles-like symptoms since March 15 this year. During this period, hospitals admitted 39,160 children with such symptoms. However, 34,968 children recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.

The Directorate General of Health Services also reported that 7,305 children across Bangladesh have tested positive for measles since March 15.
