Returning to Chandpur after a long time, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman exchanged messages of warmth and development initiatives with local farmers. On Saturday (May 16) afternoon, he visited the excavation project of the Khodda Canal and attended a rally in the Waruk Bazar area of Tamta South Union under Shahrasti Upazila, Chandpur.
At one point during the rally, Tarique Rahman called upon a local farmer, Saiful Islam Liton, and had him sit right next to him to discuss his grievances. The farmer became deeply emotional at this gesture from the Prime Minister.
Saiful Islam Liton expressed that he had never imagined getting such an opportunity in his life. He added that sitting beside the Prime Minister and having the chance to speak openly would remain an unforgettable moment for him.
Addressing the gathering, Tarique Rahman emphasized the country's food security and agricultural development. He noted that Bangladesh has now achieved self-sufficiency in food production. However, efforts must continue to make the nation even more abundant in food so that no one has to suffer from shortages.
During the event, he also made a significant announcement regarding the expansion of female education, stating that the government would bear the educational expenses of the country's women up to the undergraduate level.
The excavation of the Khodda Canal and the rally created a festive atmosphere across the area. Local BNP leaders, activists, farmers, and people from various professions joined the event, with large crowds gathering at the venue since the morning.
