Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has released a video of the recent Malaysia visit by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, using the recently popular Bangladeshi song ‘Moha Jadu’ as background music.
The video, posted Tuesday morning on Anwar Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, runs for 2 minutes and 40 seconds and highlights various moments from the visit, including bilateral talks, a luncheon, and cultural engagements between the two countries. Within three and a half hours of publication, the video had already garnered more than 900,000 views across social media platforms.
Throughout the footage, the track ‘Amar Bondhu Moha Jadu Jane’—popularly known as ‘Moha Jadu’ and performed by Habib Wahid and Meher Nigar Rustom—plays in the background. The song is heard not only over ceremonial and diplomatic visuals but also during a segment featuring remarks by Anwar Ibrahim on the Rohingya crisis.
At one point in the video, Anwar Ibrahim is heard saying that Malaysia and Bangladesh will pursue joint efforts to address the Rohingya refugee crisis. He also emphasizes continued engagement with Myanmar authorities through ASEAN and the foreign ministries of both countries.
According to information from Coke Studio Bangla, ‘Moha Jadu’ blends Baul musical traditions with Persian poetic influences. The lyrics were written by Khwaja Mia, while the song is performed by Habib Wahid and Meher Nigar Rustom. The track has gained widespread popularity both domestically and internationally.
The visit marks the first official foreign trip of Tarique Rahman following his party’s victory in the 13th national parliamentary election. He arrived in Malaysia on Sunday, held formal talks and a joint press briefing in Putrajaya on Monday, and later departed for Dalian, China the same day.
During the joint press conference, Anwar Ibrahim also referred to his long-standing ties with the Zia family, stating that he had personal relationships with Tarique Rahman’s late parents and had met them on multiple occasions. He further praised Tarique Rahman’s political journey, family legacy, and commitment to national affairs.
