With Eid-ul-Azha just a day away, people are still leaving the capital in large numbers, driven by the pull of their hometowns. A heavy rush of passengers has been seen at Mohakhali Bus Terminal, one of Dhaka’s busiest transport hubs.
According to reports from the terminal, the flow of homebound travellers has increased significantly as the final phase of Eid journeys begins. People are struggling to secure tickets, board scheduled buses, and reach their destinations on time, while the terminal remains crowded and hectic.
Even amid rainfall in the morning, the Eid rush did not slow down. Passengers continued heading home, enduring the inconvenience of rain and congestion to reach their families for the festival.
Amid rain, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping, Sheikh Rabiul Alam and Junior Minister Habibur Rashid visited the bus terminal and enquired of overall situation there. They walked through different parts of the bus station and spoke with passengers about their travel experiences.
The minister also boarded a bus at one point and directly inquired from passengers whether they were facing any difficulties during the journey, whether extra fares were being charged, and whether buses were departing on time. He instructed authorities concerned to ensure proper passenger service and take strict measures to reduce suffering during the Eid travel period.
