Top Chattogram criminal David Emon arrested

Police have arrested David Emon, one of the top listed criminals in Chattogram. He was arrested from the Jhumjhumpur area of Jashore Sadar on Tuesday night.
Jashore Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam told Agamir Somoy that David Emon was arrested from the Jhumjhumpur area on Tuesday night. He was handed over to a team from Chattogram District Police at 10 am Wednesday.
The SP said a special team from Jashore District Police took part in the operation.
Regarding the matter, Chattogram Superintendent of Police Masud Alam told Agamir Somoy, “Multiple teams from the district police worked to arrest notorious members of the criminal gang, including David Emon and Raihan. We have succeeded in arresting David Emon from Jashore. A team carried out an operation in Noakhali to arrest Raihan. He managed to escape by a narrow margin. He will also be arrested.”
The SP said details about the operation, including the arrest of David Emon, will be disclosed at a press conference on Thursday.
Earlier, police arrested two associates of fugitive top criminal David Emon along with a foreign made pistol and four rounds of ammunition in Chattogram. They were arrested from the Wazedia area on the Oxygen Kuwaish Road in the city on Sunday night. The two are Md. Asif, 25, and Saidul Islam, also known as Arif, 24. Asif was a fugitive accused wanted in a case.
Additional Commissioner of Police of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police for Crime and Operations Muhammad Faisal Ahmmed said an operation was conducted on Sunday night to arrest Asif. During the operation, a foreign made pistol and two rounds of ammunition loaded in its magazine were recovered from his waist. Two more rounds of ammunition were recovered from Arif's pants pocket.
He further said the two arrested men admitted they were associates of the notorious criminal David Emon. They also confessed to being involved for a long time in extortion and various criminal activities in different parts of Chattogram using illegal firearms.
Mobarak Hossain, also known as Emon, is the son of Md. Musa of Kanchannagar area in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram. Emon is a close associate of another top criminal, Sajjad Ali, also known as Boro Sajjad, who is currently a fugitive abroad. He has at least 15 cases filed against him. His name has surfaced in several extortion and intimidation incidents in Chattogram over the past few years.
