540 kgs in excess goods than declaration, Tk 19 lakh additional revenue collected in Chattogram

Based on confidential information, the regional office of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate in Chattogram conducted an operation and identified a consignment of imported goods that exceeded the declared quantity.
In this case, through adjudication, a total of Tk 19,13,440.57 was collected as additional customs duties, taxes, penalties, and redemption fines.
According to Customs Intelligence sources, the consignment imported by Rainbow Corporation under Bill of Entry No. C-1138706 (dated July 5, 2026) was subjected to physical examination based on secret intelligence.
During the examination, it was found that while the importer had declared the weight of chocolate products as 6,704.56 kg, the actual weight was found to be 7,132.25 kg. Similarly, the declared weight of wafer products was 2,572.16 kg, but the examination revealed 2,684.88 kg.
Altogether, the consignment contained 540.41 kg of excess goods compared to the declared weight, which is approximately 5.83% more than the declared net weight.
Through adjudication in this case, an additional Tk 8,13,440.57 was collected as customs duties and taxes, Tk 10,00,000 as a penalty, and Tk 1,00,000 as a redemption fine. Thus, the total additional revenue collected amounted to Tk 19,13,440.57.
