US-Bangla Airlines, one of the leading carriers in Bangladesh, celebrated 12 years of successful operations and officially entered its 13th year on Friday.

On the milestone anniversary, the airline extended its warmest greetings and congratulations to all its well-wishers.

The airline’s journey began on 17 July 2014, with its inaugural flight on the Dhaka-Jashore route using Dash 8-Q400 aircraft.

US-Bangla’s fleet has now expanded to 25 aircraft, which includes three Airbus 330-300 and nine Boeing 737-800 models. Since its inception, the airline has maintained a record of operating more than 90 percent of its flights on time.

It operates domestic flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur, and Rajshahi. The airline expanded into international territory on 15 May 2016, with the Dhaka-Kathmandu route.

Its international network now includes Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and Guangzhou.

Looking ahead, the carrier plans to add several Boeing 737-8 and Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft to its fleet shortly. Expansion plans through 2027 include destinations such as Dammam, Medina, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kathmandu, Colombo, Johur Bahru and Penang in Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

By 2028, the airline aims to reach European cities like London and Rome, with further ambitions to fly to New York, Toronto, and Sydney by 2030.

The airline’s service has earned it numerous accolades, including being named the Best Domestic Airline in 2025, a title it also held in 2015, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

With around 4,000 employees at home and abroad, the company plays a significant role in addressing unemployment and bolstering the national economy through taxes, surcharges, and the earning of foreign currency.

US-Bangla provides modern conveniences such as a website and mobile app for ticket collection, supported by more than 40 sales offices globally and thousands of travel agencies. Frequent flyers can also participate in the Skystar program.

Notably, it is the first domestic airline since independence to operate direct flights to China, Chennai, and Male.

One of its signature services is the delivery of baggage within 15 minutes of landing on international flights, operating under the principle, “You don’t wait for your luggage; your luggage will wait for you.”

Beyond passenger travel, the airline transports cargo and is actively involved in supporting education, social and cultural institutions, and sports.

On the occasion of the anniversary, US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun said, “In a competitive world, we are ready to take on any kind of competitive challenge. In today’s world, there is no alternative to modern aircraft to provide proper service to passengers.

“US-Bangla is constantly adding new aircraft to its fleet to ensure comfortable service to passengers. The US-Bangla family is very happy and proud to be involved in the economic progress of the country.”

He also expressed his gratitude to government and private organizations, travel agents, tour operators, civil aviation authorities, corporate offices, and journalists from print, electronic, and online media for their support over the last twelve years.
