Cautionary signal hoisted as storms lash 8 districts

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said storms with speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may occur in eight regions of the country by noon.
BMD confirmed the matter in the weather forecast for the inland river ports, effective from 5 am to 1pm Friday.
The forecast added that rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or south-east at a speed of 45 to 60 km/h may occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.
BMD advised the inland river ports in these areas to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
According to a previous forecast issued on Thursday, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at many places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Khulna divisions from 6 pm Thursday to 6 pm Friday.
Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may also occur in some parts of the country. Both day and night temperatures across the nation may decrease slightly.
