Low-Pressure Area May Intensify
Storms With Winds Up to 60 km/h Forecast Tonight

A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify further, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said, warning that several parts of the country could experience storms with wind speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour by Friday night.
According to a warning issued Friday afternoon for inland river ports, strong southerly to southeasterly winds may sweep across Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet by 1 am Saturday.
The weather office said the affected areas may also experience rain and thunderstorms. Inland river ports in those regions have been advised to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.
In its regular weather bulletin, the BMD said many places in the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions are likely to receive rainfall between Friday morning and Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are expected at isolated places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Barishal divisions.
The forecast also said that moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur in parts of the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions during the same period.
Daytime temperatures across the country may rise slightly, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
