UN Secretary-General expresses grief over Khamenei's assassination

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep grief over the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He conveyed his condolences during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi yesterday, Thursday afternoon local time.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared this information in a statement, noting that during the call, Guterres extended his sympathies to the government and people of Iran.
Additionally, they exchanged views over the telephone regarding the Strait of Hormuz, the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah, the US-Iran memorandum of understanding, and the subsequent steps ahead.
Meanwhile, the body of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was brought to the Grand Mosalla of Tehran today, Friday.
Press TV reported that the body has been placed in the main prayer hall of the Grand Mosalla for a two-day public viewing to allow citizens to pay their respects. In the initial phase, foreign diplomats and religious figures are arriving to offer their tributes.
