Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called upon party leaders and activists to work with sincerity and responsibility to implement the election manifesto. He said public trust in the government will grow stronger only through the fulfillment of promises made to the people.
He made these remarks today, Saturday morning, during an exchange of views with leaders and activists of the BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium in Farmgate.
The Prime Minister pointed out that everyone must work unitedly to maintain the country’s development and progress. He directed party members to highlight the government's various development activities and welfare initiatives to the public, while also prioritizing the resolution of people's issues at the grassroots level.
He further emphasized that the election manifesto is not merely a political pledge but a reflection of the government's accountability to the people. Therefore, party activists must play an active role in implementing every promise.
The Prime Minister also highlighted various government initiatives aimed at maintaining overall national development, economic progress, and social stability. He expressed hope that party members would stand by the people and cooperate in making the government's development programs a success.
"You were on the field during the elections held on February 12. I told you that the election would be difficult, and each of you felt that at every step. The people have given their support to our party and our election manifesto," the Prime Minister added.
Stating that the manifesto presented before the election has now become the manifesto of the people, Tarique Rahman said, "Until the day before the election, the manifesto we presented was the manifesto of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. After the election, and especially after we formed the government, this manifesto has become the manifesto of our government and, consequently, the people of Bangladesh."
"This is because the 52 percent of the people who voted have essentially given their mandate in favor of this manifesto. Therefore, we must strive with our utmost effort to implement everything we promised in it."
The Prime Minister further said, "Before the election, we told the people that we would provide good governance. We want to create a country where students will find a beautiful educational environment, and where women, men, and children can all move safely on the streets."
He added that while they were campaigning against autocracy and fascism, they emphasized that given the nature of the persecution, disappearances, and killings they were subjected to, political activists desire a political climate where they can engage in debate and express their opinions freely.
Earlier, the exchange of views meeting began at 10:45 AM at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Farmgate. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present as a special guest at this day-long closed-door meeting.
Presided over by the party's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the meeting was also attended by Standing Committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Selima Rahman, and AZM Zahid Hossain.
