Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal paid a courtesy call on the Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad to discuss implementing an e-parliament system to establish a paperless, modern, and technology-based parliament.

During the meeting on Sunday, they emphasized the necessity of implementing the e-parliament system. The proposed system will feature both Bengali and English language versions and it will make parliamentary document management, information preservation, and exchange easier, faster, and more effective.

Hafiz directed the formation of a committee, with Kayser serving as the chairman, to implement the e-parliament system. The committee will review the proposed system’s structure, implementation process, necessary technological infrastructure, and other related matters to take necessary actions.

He also directed authorities to deliver a presentation on the e-parliament system by the end of September. The presentation will highlight the proposed system’s working methods, technological capabilities, implementation plan, and other crucial aspects.

As a result, the system will reduce paper use, save time and administrative costs, and increase the speed, efficiency, and coordination of parliamentary activities. To ensure the necessary technical and other cooperation for project implementation, the authorities decided to communicate with the UNDP, donor countries, and donor agencies.

The project will accept their cooperation in the phases as needed. Other officials of the National Parliament Secretariat also attended the meeting.
