The ban on tourist entry to the Rangamati Hanging Bridge has been lifted after seven days. The ban was lifted from Saturday morning.

Last Saturday, water levels in Kaptai Lake rose and submerged up to one foot of the bridge deck. Authorities then imposed the ban on tourist entry to the Hanging Bridge for safety reasons.

After 16 sluice gates of the Kaptai Dam were opened to lower the lake's water level, the water gradually began to recede. As a result, water receded from the bridge deck after six days and the bridge became visible again on Friday.

Alok Bikash Chakma, manager of the Tourism Holiday Complex, said, “As the water level in Kaptai Lake has fallen somewhat, the water has receded from the bridge deck. The bridge was cleaned and prepared for tourist movement yesterday.”

He said the ban on tourist entry was lifted from Saturday morning. Tourists will once again be able to enjoy the beauty of the Hanging Bridge.
