Flee by helicopter or resign with honor: Nahid

NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam said those who destroyed democracy in the past have found their place at the bottom of history and Tarique Rahman must decide whether he will flee the country in a helicopter or resign with honor.
He made these remarks on Saturday morning at the inaugural rally of the 11-party alliance’s Dhaka-Rangpur long march at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.
Nahid alleged that their banners and festoons were being torn down to resist the long march. The City Corporation has also joined BNP leaders and activists in this action.
He claimed that it will not be possible to stop the support for the long march by tearing down banners and festoons. He added, “Demands are increasing, but we know where all demands will end up - in a single demand. Prepare for that.”
Earlier at a rally, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader Shafiqur Rahman said the eight-point demand of the 11-party alliance could turn into a single-point demand under circumstances of national necessity and realizing the people’s demands.
