23 held on suspicion of militancy after ‘secret meeting’ at Tejgaon mosque

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained 23 people from a mosque in Tejgaon in the capital on suspicion of militancy. They were arrested at around 4:15 pm Friday.
Ibn Mizan, deputy commissioner (DC) of the DMP’s Tejgaon division, told Agamir Somoy that they were detained after police conducted a raid based on intelligence that a secret meeting was taking place at the mosque.
A senior DMP official claimed that the detainees are active members of the banned organisation ‘Iftihadul Al Islam’.
The detainees were taken to Tejgaon Police Station. Police said officers from the Counter Terrorism Unit are coming there.
