Man arrested on allegations of raping child in Dhaka

Police have arrested a man on allegations of raping a six-year-old child in Shah Ali, Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Md Akter Hossain confirmed the matter on Friday morning. The man has been identified as Suman, 32.

Akter said, “When the child experienced a burning sensation during urination, her mother took her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment. There, after examinations, the doctor suspected the child of being raped and referred her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.”

He added, “When the child’s mother questioned her about the matter, she revealed that Suman, a tenant of the adjacent house, had taken her to his room and raped her. Following this, the child’s mother filed an Ejahar (case statement) at the Shah Ali Police Station on Thursday.”

Akter noted, “The police conducted a raid and arrested Suman from his house. Legal action is underway.”
