Japanese Investment Delegation Meets the Prime Minister

A delegation from Japan’s leading trading and investment conglomerate Mitsui & Co. has met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting was held today at the Prime Minister’s Office under the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.
Mitsui & Co. operates globally across multiple sectors, including logistics, infrastructure, metals, energy, and food trade.
During the meeting, discussions focused on investment opportunities and expansion in sectors such as food, agriculture, energy, and ICT.
The government informed the delegation that it is pursuing investor-friendly policies and will provide maximum support to attract and expand foreign investment. It also highlighted initiatives to bring various government services under a “one-stop service” framework to simplify business operations and approval processes for investors, enabling faster and smoother investment procedures.
Among those present from the Bangladeshi side were Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, the Prime Minister’s Economic and Planning Advisor Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Shakirul Islam Khan, and Finance Secretary Md. Khairuzzaman Mazumder.
The Japanese delegation was led by Mitsui & Co.’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President for Asia-Pacific, Makoto Sato.
Also there were present Chief Strategy Officer of the Asia-Pacific Business Unit Takanobu Murayama, Mitsui Bangladesh Country Chairperson Kenichiro Kawamoto, and Deputy General Manager of the Dhaka branch Md. Moniruzzaman.
