Prime Minister to Visit China at the End of June: Deputy Speaker

Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal has said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has chosen China as the second country to visit after forming the government.
He said, "To take bilateral relations to new heights, the Prime Minister is going to China on a state visit in the last week of this month (June)."
He shared this information while delivering a speech today, Thursday (June 11), at the 7th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
This information was also provided in a press release from the National Parliament Secretariat in the afternoon.
The Deputy Speaker expressed optimism, stating, "The Prime Minister's decision to make this visit will open new horizons in the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China. It will take integrated strategic cooperation between the two countries one step further."
Addressing the representatives present, he said, "It is not possible for any single country to face challenges such as the current global energy crisis, the adverse effects of climate change, the growing debt burden of developing countries, and the increasing instability of world trade. Therefore, regional cooperation has become an essential issue in today's world."
Kayser Kamal pointed out that by strengthening the foundation of relations between countries worldwide through timely steps such as digital and economic diversification initiatives, cross-border infrastructure, trade corridors and digital highways, education, culture, tourism, and youth experience exchanges, etc., and by increasing people-to-people and economic connections, global crises must be tackled collectively.
Other speakers at the forum included Governor of Yunnan Province Wang Yu Luo, Vice Chairperson of the Nepal National Assembly Lila Kumari Bhandari, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Dr. Irathisham Adam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Arun Himachandra, Secretary-General of SAARC Md. Golam Sarwar, Ambassador of Pakistan to China Khalil-ur Rahman Hashmi, Ambassador of Afghanistan to China Asadullah Bilal Karimi, Bhutan's Minister of Industry, Employment and Commerce Karma Dorji, as well as high-ranking officials from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier, the parliamentary delegation led by the Deputy Speaker participated as guests at the opening ceremony of the 10th China-South Asia Exposition; where Bangladesh's Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir delivered a speech as the head of the country's trade delegation.
Bangladesh is the theme country for this 10th China Exposition, with 84 pavilions from the country participating in the fair. A total of 90 countries from around the world are participating in this vast trade fair in Kunming.
On bilateral issues concerning Bangladesh and China, the Bangladeshi parliamentary delegation held private meetings with Mr. Wei, Vice President of China's National People's Congress, and Wang Ning, Secretary of the Communist Party of China's Yunnan Provincial Committee. The Bangladeshi parliamentary delegation sought China's cooperation in areas such as agriculture, education, health, infrastructure development, industrialization, economic zones, tourism, the Teesta project, and leather processing.
The two important Chinese leaders, highlighting the long-standing good relations between China and Bangladesh, stated that China is firmly committed to working with the current democratic government of Bangladesh. They expressed their commitment to stand by Bangladesh in all potential areas.
When the Deputy Speaker invited the Chinese delegation to visit Bangladesh, they sincerely accepted the invitation. They expressed hope of visiting Bangladesh soon.
Other members of the parliamentary delegation included: NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, BNP Member of Parliament Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahbub, and Reserved Independent MP Sultana Jasmin Jui.
