Why is Hamza not playing for Leicester?

Leicester City are now playing in the third tier of English football. Bangladesh star Hamza Choudhury is not regularly taking the field for the team. But why? Leicester coach Russell Martin has confirmed that the Bangladeshi midfielder has been left out of the squad because of various rumors and interest surrounding a possible transfer.

Hamza was not included in Leicester City’s squad for yesterday’s Carabao Cup match against Ipswich Town. Before that, the 28-year-old Hamza came on as a substitute in Leicester’s first two league matches against Notts County and Burton Albion.

There are rumors that Derby County are set to sign Hamza before the transfer window closes on September 1. Leicester coach Russell did not hide the situation and said, “There is quite a bit of interest from other clubs in Hamza. But nothing has been finalized yet. My job is to prepare with the players who are going to be here. If Hamza stays in the end, then that is very good. And if he leaves then it has to be beneficial for both the club and the player. Whatever happens he is still a Leicester player.”

According to Russell, even if a player does not lack anything in training or shows professional behavior, it becomes difficult to give 100 percent attention when there is uncertainty. Therefore, priority has been given to players who are fully focused on the club’s matches at the moment.

Does this mean Hamza has temporarily fallen out of consideration for the first team? The Leicester coach said, “With the level of transfer discussions that are going on, I will not play him at this moment. It does not mean that he has done anything wrong as a player. The decision is entirely mine. If they are still at the club in a week then there is no problem. They can help us again.”
