The US Army has launched a missile attack on an Iranian cargo vessel off the coast of Oman. However, its sailors have been rescued.
According to the Governor of Sirik County in Iran, as reported by the country's semi-official news agency Mehr News Agency, an Iranian cargo barge was damaged by a US missile strike in the Gulf of Oman early Thursday morning.
Sirik's Governor, Reza Shahidiyan, said that a 150-ton cargo vessel, carrying essential goods from Oman's Khasab port and owned by local residents of Sirik, was attacked approximately 5 nautical miles from Khasab.
He further said all five crew members were rescued by passing ships and taken to Oman.
Prior to this, on Tuesday night, three Indian sailors were killed in a US army attack on the Setta Tello oil tanker in the same area.
In a post on social media platform X today, the Indian Embassy in Oman said that they have learned of the incident involving the ship attacked near Oman's Shinas port.
The Indian Embassy wrote, "We are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities for more detailed information."
